MANAGER Paul Collicutt insists play-off chasing Evesham United must get their “act together” in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West after suffering back-to-back defeats over the festive period.

Third-placed Robins lost 2-1 at home to Shortwood United on Boxing Day before being edged out 2-1 at leaders Hereford FC on Bank Holiday Monday.

Collicutt said their clash against the Edgar Street outfit was a “memorable” occasion for Evesham as they played in front of a record league crowd of 4,406.

However, the Robins boss insisted he was “disappointed” with the defeat as he believed his players “froze” in the first half.

The Bulls opened up a 2-0 lead before a superb solo effort from United skipper Linden Dovey.

And he said Evesham now need to return to winning ways when they take on second-from-bottom Bridgwater Town at the Jubilee Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

“We have played a team who are looked upon as being the best in the league and we matched them punch for punch,” said Collicutt.

“Over the Christmas period, it didn’t work out for us against Shortwood and Hereford so we need to dust ourselves down and start getting our act together.”

Somerset-based Bridgwater were thrashed 5-0 by Evesham in September and have lost 10 out of their last 11 league games.

“You can’t afford to take anybody lightly and we will certainly be paying Bridgwater an awful lot of respect,” said Collicutt who is set to welcome back defender Leroy Odiero after a two-match suspension.

“We have got to be at the races for every game between now and the end of the season.”
