THREE Worcester Reds players will be involved with new city professional side Severn Stars.

Phillipa Yarranton, 21, will train with Stars’ Vitality Netball Superleague first team, while Lucy Herdman and Hayley Rudd, both 20, are in the under 21s squad.

All three play for Worcester Reds’ England Mizuno Premier League One side and figured in their 51-49 home win over Turnford at the weekend.

Worcester’s Rudd and Herdman, of Coventry, study at the University of Worcester, while Leominster’s Yarranton attends Cardiff Metropolitan.

They are sponsored by Trevor Smith from HJL Restaurants McDonald’s.

Stars start their league campaign on February 18 at Surrey Storm with the under 21s beginning in April.

Reds are seventh in the 10-team Premier One with three wins from nine fixtures despite facing many clubs supported by big franchises.
