A LEGENDS football match between Malvern Town Old Boys and the Lucky Stars crowned a fundraising fun day at the HDanywhere Community Stadium.

Melanie Nolan and her friend Bev Butler are participating in the Women v Cancer Ride The Night cycle ride on Saturday, May 27, to raise funds and awareness for three charities.

They are Breast Cancer Care, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

The 100-kilometre night-time bike ride starts in Windsor and takes in the sights of London.

Nolan, of Malvern, said: "I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2008 from a routine smear test and am happy to say I am a survivor and was given the all-clear."

The legends match involved former players of Malvern Town, Link Stars and The Three Horseshoes.

It was organised by current Town player Lee Hooper and Nic Butler and Malvern Town Old Boys, who wore the black and white striped shirts, won 4-2.

Nolan added: "We had a fantastic response of former players who did themselves proud and put on a fabulous performance which was enjoyed by all.

"The final amount raised was £1,000 after Chris Pinder of Malvern Town, who also played in the match, donated the shortfall to take it up to £1,000."

Sean Nolan and Dana and Steve Hughes were also involved in organising the day which helped boost the charity funds raised ahead of the cycle ride next month.
