OLD Vigornians were comfortably beaten by touring Fleetwood in their first match of the season at Bromsgrove on a sunny but chilly day.

The Lancashire side's 207-5 from 40 overs was built around a commanding 101 retired from Paul Willis.

Alex Ryder hit two big sixes in his 37 not out as he helped add 72 in the final 10 overs.

Two 15-year-old debutants picked up wickets with their first balls for OVs.

Off-spinner Zain Hussain took 3-29 and two more difficult chances were dropped.

Elliot Turner finished with 1-32 while Charlie Lamb also impressed and there was a fine run out by another teenage debutant Ben Doyle.

The Worcester side struggled against accurate bowling from Will Reader (2-13) and Luke Wilkinson (2-7).

The top order were disappointing with Chris Drew (18) and Ahsan Fiaz (14) regretting injudicious shots.

Aidan Thompson fell for 31 and Dom Lee scored a breezy 42 with seven boundaries.

OVs struggled to keep up with the run-rate and the innings petered out at 145-9 after 40 overs.
