WORCESTERSHIRE Virtue Empire’s under 13s gained valuable experience at the Midland dodgeball tournament in Cannock.

They finished sixth out of seven teams but were up against many players with more know-how.

Virtue beat Cooper & Jordan's firsts 7-3 before losing 10-0 to Leicester Panthers and 8-2 to Cannock MDL All-Stars.

They defeated Cooper & Jordan’s seconds 7-3 before being edged out 6-4 by Walsall Warriors.

The final match was disappointing as Virtue lost 9-1 to MDA.

Coach Brian Williams said: “They played well overall but were capable of finishing higher up the table.

"It was down to a lack of tournament experience. They’re still getting used to playing with each other.

"We have all learned from this and the only way is up.”

Virtue’s adult team went to Hereford for the Specsavers annual Comic Relief tournament but were a player down.

They advanced to the semis after finishing fourth in the play-offs only to be eliminated by default as the top teams went straight to the final due to time constraints.

Virtue run clubs in Worcester, Droitwich, Bewdley and Kidderminster.

New players of any age are welcome and Virtue hope to form an all-female team by the end of the year.
