WITTON Middle’s year six and seven teams celebrated Worcestershire Schools’ Cup football victories.

The year six final saw the Droitwich pupils beat a strong outfit from Alvechurch Middle 3-1 to become under 11s champions.

The deadlock was broken by Joe Hurdman who volleyed home a Callum Perry cross at the back post just prior to the interval.

Alvechurch fought back strongly and equalised through Sam Wooley with 10 minutes to go.

The equaliser sparked Witton back into life and almost immediately Perry put Witton back on top, heading home a Hurdman corner.

The game was sealed with two minutes remaining as Rico Holloway’s long-range effort trickled into the empty net after it was abandoned by Alvechurch goalkeeper who had just taken a wide free-kick.

Witton’s year seven team were also victorious over Walkwood Middle from Redditch in the under 12s competition with a long-range strike from Perry deciding the game.

The first half was a 0-0 stalemate and it took Perry’s excellent drive from distance to separate the sides.

He was the only member of the county-winning sides to lift both trophies.
