MALVERN Cycle Sport will field a strong team of 10 riders for the HSBC UK National Cross Country Championships at Cannock Chase tomorrow.

With the much-coveted National Jersey up for grabs in each category, the competition is set to be fast and furious with riders facing a tough and technically demanding course.

But the club will be upbeat on building on what has been an impressive start to the mountain bike season.

Evie Richards has made an impact on the big stage having secured top spot in Albstadt in German and landed two further third placed podium positions.

She has recently returned from international duty in Lenzerheide, Switzerland where she finished third to keeper chances of winning the World Cup Under 23 series firmly alive.

Elsewhere, David Creber produced a scintillating performance to win the UCI 50KM MTB Marathon in Megeve, France.

Not far behind was Stan Pritchard who came home in a credible sixth placed.

Brother and sister duo, Harriet and Ross Harnden, have been dominating their respective categories. They took first place in the National Points Series race in Dalby Forest, Yorkshire.

Ryan Milne also rode a very impressive race to claim third place at the same event in the Veteran Men category.

Pritchard has been gradually improving and is now in the very tough and highly competitive category of Under 23 Men.

Liam Killeen has been making a comeback too. The former Olympian who has guided and nurtured the club’s young up and coming talent, has had a quiet early season. But he will be looking to be a dominant force in the elite men category in the coming weeks.
