WORCESTER St John's rider Ollie Morgan won the junior event at the Ross-on-Wye and District Cycling Club's 10-mile open time trial.

The teenager clocked 21 minutes 34 seconds over the 10-mile distance around Raglan and Abergavenny to equal his own junior club record.

St John's cyclist Jason Milner achieved 21.54.

Veloton's David Janes won the overall prize in dry conditions with changing winds.

Meanwhile, Simon Garrett was the fastest St John's rider at the VTTA Midlands open 25-mile time trial championship at Evesham.

Sixty riders competed in the Echelon Cycles-backed event on a warm morning with a nine to 10mph changeable crosswind.

There was a welcome downhill start but between the Bidford-on-Avon and Evesham roundabouts it was hard going and there was a tailwind on the return leg.

Garrett clocked 54 minutes 39 seconds while Paul Guest did a personal best of 55.33.

They were third and fourth fastest in the scratch competition respectively.

Steve Clarke did not finish but Phil Whiteley had another ride on his road bike in 57.41.

Simon Adcook battled adversity with a dropped chain, illness and an encounter with a lorry to clock one hour one minute.

Dave Walker did his best ride of the season with 59.01 and Mark Cooper beat the hour with 59.20 while Adrian Murray enjoyed a PB of 1.04.12.

Mark Daffin was unable to race with a broken collarbone and ribs from a previous cycling accident.

The Billy Steer Cup for best man on standard went to Tim Wood from Pershore-based Echelon.

The Bricknell Cup for best woman on standard was won by Emma Bexson of Stratford.
