DROITWICH Spa Football Club make their Buildbase FA Vase debut on Saturday at Hereford side Pegasus Juniors (3pm).

They head to the West Midlands League Premier Division club for the first qualifying round tie on the back of a Midland League Division Two success.

A battling display at Knowle earned their second victory in a row with a 1-0 scoreline.

Macauley Finch spurned the Saltmen’s best first-half chance when put through after good work from Besar Celaj and Max Crisp as home keeper Craig Johnson smothered the ball.

Nathan Corry struck the post from close range for the Robins as Spa struggled to clear their lines from a corner before keeper Matty Oliver made a smart stop from Ashley Weeks’ effort.

Haydn Morris’ speculative effort from an angle shaved the Knowle bar.

Spa dominated the second period but only after Kieran Day missed a glaring opportunity from close range with just Oliver to beat on 49 minutes.

Spa passed the ball around well and their make-shift back-line of full-backs dealt with everything the hosts threw at them.

On 73 minutes Oliver’s kick was flicked on by James Lemon to Bradley Burgess.

A smart turn and burst of pace set the winger away and a classy finish from an angle into the bottom corner gave Spa a deserved lead.

Knowle's Niall Gilbride was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence 10 minutes from time after a push on Chris Glover.
