ASHLEY Banner has stood down as player-manager of relaunched Worcester Olympic after just six matches.

The club celebrated its renaissance earlier this year having initially folded in 2015, joining the Cheltenham League under respected local player Banner.

However, just six matches into the new campaign the boss has decided to concentrate on playing for Olympic and vowed to assist the search for his replacement in the dugout.

The club's Twitter feed announced Banner had "decided to relieve his duties as manager" before thanking him for his efforts and then later invited applications for the post.

Banner said: "I will gladly help if required, even if it is just to bounce ideas off me, but it is my understanding Tom Stone (club secretary) will take over until the new manager is appointed."

Olympic have won all three Junior Charity Cup matches and were unbeaten in Division One in two games before suffering their first defeat 3-0 at home to Bishops Cleeve thirds on Saturday.
