WORCESTER were well beaten 67-24 by an impressive Burton side in Midlands One West.

The Staffordshire hosts were at one point scoring a point per minute of the game in an off-day for the visitors.

Burton's pack started strongly with a dominant scrum and pushover try.

They charged down a kick and then good hands by the backs resulted in a third unconverted try in the 17th minute.

Worcester kept possession and winger Will Collins broke down the right before James Priddy burst through to dive over.

But by half-time Burton had scored another two tries to make it 29-5.

The interval team talk had little effect as Burton scored three quick tries to put the game well out of Worcester's reach.

But Worcester persevered to get three more themselves and a bonus point.

Dave Serafini got a 60-metre interception score, Priddy added his second try after a 40-metre run and the fourth was from a clever Sam Harper kick that Alex Crawshaw finished off.

Man of the match was last season's player of the year Dan Jones whose his tireless work-rate and tackle count deserved more.

But something did not click for Worcester who have looked at all aspects of the preparation and performance this week.

Seven changes had been made from the 28-11 victory over Moseley Oak the previous week.

Worcester host unbeaten Rugby Lions on Saturday requiring big improvements (3pm).

In the same division Bromsgrove won 31-23 at Camp Hill and Hereford beat Sutton Coldfield 29-12.

In the RFU Midlands Intermediate Cup first round Evesham lost 31-19 at Ludlow.

Pershore thrashed Greyhound 84-19 in the RFU Midlands Junior Vase.

Ash White, Josh Hardiman, Greg Hitchcock (2), Nick Creswick (2) and Calvin May (2) were among the try-scorers.

Man of the match Dave Oliver scored 44 points with four tries and the rest with the boot.

Chaddesley Corbett beat Aldridge 22-21 and Redditch lost 19-0 to Wednesbury.

Meanwhile, Worcester Valkyries return to Sixways on Saturday as they host Bristol in the Tyrrell’s Premier 15s (2pm).

Both sides look for their first win of the campaign after Valkyries went down 46-12 at Loughborough Lightning while Bristol lost to Richmond.

Director of rugby Roy Davies comes up against his former side for the first time.

At Loughborough tries from Olivia Jones (2), Bethan Zeidler, Natasha Jones and Charlotte Pierce put the hosts 29-0 up at the break.

They continued to carve through Valkyries in the second half as Ofure Ugiagbe, Lucy Nye and Celia Quansah all crossed.

Skipper Lark Davies and Zoe Bennion gave Worcester something to build on moving forward with late tries.
