NEW member Graham Goodyear junior won the Whitehall AC fur and feather competition.

He tamed the difficult conditions on the Ash pool at Broadheath Fisheries.

A wind and rain-lashed venue put the resident carp into a dormant mood.

But despite his limited experience of the venue Goodyear tempted four fish with his maggot hookbait offered on a method feeder set-up.

Added to a few pole-caught silvers early on, they pulled the scales down to a match-winning 27lb 7oz 0dr.

Consistent Carl Graham again made the frame when his pellet feeder-taken carp weight of 24-10 gave him second place.

Club star Dave Warren started on his favourite long pole and pellet but due to the conditions had to come closer to take a third-placed 23-15-0 mixed bag.

He narrowly beat Gareth Manton who put 23-1 onto the scales for fourth prize.

Woodland View, Tuesday, Deans pool: 1 I Swanson 85-8, 2 G Clark 76-3, 3 C Webb 70-7; Saturday, Ghost pool: 1 D Hill 103-5, 2 C Hill 94-0, 3 G Clark 80-8; Sunday winter pairs round 1: 1 G Clark 81-0, 2 J Astle 41-10, 3 A Buchanan 40-0.

Moorlands Farm, Wednesday over 50s open: 1 M Watson 87-3, 2 D Highfield 50-2, 3 F Burnside 47-3; Saturday open: 1 A Gethen 96-1, 2 S Pierce 73-10, 3 D Highfield 67-14; Sunday open: 1 R Rathbone 73-8, 2 M Watson 68-10, 3 T Homer 45-11.

Prospects: Stillwaters are now slowing down with carp taking a back seat to silver fish while on rivers roach are feeding in earnest with either waggler or bolo tactics being the most productive methods.
