THE end of the year at Bransford has marked changes in command.

Rob Richards takes over as new club captain from Pete Sheppard while Dave Miller follows Alan Wallcroft for the seniors.

With Pauline Wetton stepping down from the club committee after several years and as ladies' captain, the section will be run on a committee basis in 2018.

Sheppard said the club’s 25th anniversary year had been successful and involved all sections.

At the seniors' annual general meeting, Wallcroft reported membership had grown considerably and the efforts of course manager Graham Wallace and his team were paying off at the venue.

Bransford seniors remained unbeaten at home through the summer, winning 11 matches and drawing two.

They also won the winter league earlier in the year against Little Lakes, Wharton Park and the now defunct Burlish Park.

The section helped to raise close on £2,000 for his chosen charity Guide Dogs Worcestershire.

Miller's chosen charity for 2018 will be Acorns Children's Hospice with aims to raise £2,000 and his vice-captain is Andy Falconer.

Action in the 2017-18 winter league resumes when new members The Staffordshire host round three on Tuesday, January 9.

The final round is at Wharton Park in February.

Little Lakes head the league by one point from Bransford with The Staffs in third.

Bransford held a restricted competition with a stableford over 11 holes.

Scoring was quite reasonable despite tricky conditions with the early starters having to contend with lower temperatures and light frost.

Division One was won by Gerry Rebbeck (13 handicap) with 22 points from Graham Wilks (17) on 21 and Alan Cockill (19), Tony Lee (18) and Keith Leadbetter (13) on 20.

John Ballard (23) took top spot in Division Two with the morning’s highest return of 24.

Second was claimed by Wallcroft (23) on 22 followed by Ken Jones (23) on 21 and Dave Lindsay (21) and Brian Taylor (24) on 20.

In Division Three, Steve Littlewood (28) finished first with 22 ahead of Roger Steade (28) on 21 and Dave Harvey (28), John Knowles (25) and Falconer (26) on 20.
