TWO amateur boxers from Worcester will compete for national titles at a three-day event this weekend.
Worcester City ABC duo Owen Cooper and Jake Lee have travelled to Doncaster for the England Boxing National Youth Championships.
Four-time Midlands champion Cooper, 17, will tackle Rio Gordon from Harwich on the class B 64-69kg quarter-final tonight.
Double Midlands champion Lee, 16, has received a bye and will face Connor Carol in the class A 69-75kg semi-final, also tonight.
Cooper made it as far as the semi-final last year but was beaten by two-time European champion John Johnson to earn a third-placed ranking nationally.
Both boys have been diligently working alongside trainers Mick Underwood, Harry Butler and Shaun Finn to prepare for their respective bids to bring the crowns to Worcester.
