FORMER Football League clubs Kidderminster Harriers and Stockport County go head-to-head in a National League North play-off battle tonight (7.45pm).

Harriers’ 2-1 win at Blyth Spartans on Saturday kept them in fourth position but in-form Stockport are only one point behind in fifth.

So the scrap for final places could be heavily influenced by tonight’s Aggborough result with County’s 3-1 weekend win at basement boys North Ferriby United being their sixth victory in a row since mid-March.

Harriers have won both games in April after a mixed March, starting with a 2-1 win over third-placed Brackley Town.

Kidderminster have not lost at home to Stockport in four meetings and triumphed 2-1 at County in the league last October before a comprehensive 3-0 FA Trophy replay exit there in January.

Experienced centre-half Jimmy O’Connor, who returned from injury at Blyth, said: “Every team offers their own individual challenges and there are a lot of good sides in this league.

“When we played Stockport in the Trophy we weren’t at our best but we were punished heavily.

“Tonight’s match is tough but one we’re looking forward to and hopefully getting another win to gain more momentum.”

And Harriers manager John Eustace hopes to again reward the fans who supported them for the long trip to Blyth.

He said: “To travel all the way up from Kidderminster on a day like that, we’re all very grateful. They certainly got us through at the end.”

Harriers right-back Lee Vaughan serves the second game of a three-match ban tonight.

In-form attacker Dan Bradley is nursing a knee injury while left-back Joel Taylor has been suffering with illness.

Meanwhile, the Southern League Division One West play-off race is hotting up as Evesham United visit Kidlington tonight (7.45pm).

Taunton Town were crowned champions with a tight 1-0 home win over Evesham on Saturday but the result dropped the Robins out of the top six.

Paul Collicutt’s side are still only five points off Wimborne Town in third position and just two off Didcot Town in sixth with five matches left to play.

There are sure to be plenty of twists and turns yet with 11th-placed Winchester City five points below the Robins although tonight’s opponents Kidlington are out of the play-off picture in 13th barring a stunning run of results.

In a busy night of fixtures, Stourport Swifts continue to play catch-up in the Midland League Premier Division at Loughborough University and Westfields visit basement boys Rocester (both 7.45pm).

Alfie Bloomer’s second-half goal gave Pershore Town a fine 1-0 weekend win at Racing Club Warwick and they are on the road again tonight at Heather St Johns (7.45pm).

Droitwich Spa, who won 3-0 at Earlswood Town on Saturday thanks to James Lemon (2) and Nick Seabourne, host Coton Green at Stourport’s Walshes Meadow in Division Two (7.45pm).

Redditch Borough entertain local rivals Feckenham and in Division Three Inkberrow visit Central Ajax (both 6.20pm).

Southern League Premier Division leaders Hereford FC’s visit to Hitchin Town last night was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Redditch United make the trip to St Ives Town tonight (7.45pm).

Fifth-placed Bewdley Town entertain Wolverhampton Casuals in the West Midlands League Premier Division and Bromyard Town welcome Wem Town in Division One (both 7.45pm).
