KIDDERMINSTER Harriers picked up a point from another tussle with a National League North play-off rival through a 1-1 draw with Spennymoor Town.

Elton Ngwatala's outrageous second-half goal was cancelled out by a penalty at the home of Harrogate Town with Spennymoor's ground waterlogged.

Through Joe Ironside, James McQuilkin and Declan Weeks, fourth-placed Harriers made most of the early running.

Ngwatala drove wide after 18 minutes before Spennymoor’s Andy Johnson nodded over when well placed.

Ryan Hall forced away keeper Brandon Hall into a smart save on 29 minutes.

Soon after, Harriers' Sam Austin threatened to break the deadlock only for Dan Lowson to gather up at the second attempt.

There was a big chance for both teams either side of the break.

A driven cross was met by Mark Anderson on the volley but the Harriers keeper expertly turned the effort onto the post before catching the follow-up.

Then just after the restart Ironside dragged wide on the angle after being played through.

Fresh from netting on his 100th Harriers appearance in the previous game, Ngwatala's spectacular shot clipped the bar and crashed into the net on 58 minutes.

Seventh-placed Spennymoor created two or three chances to draw level with the best falling to Glen Taylor.

But they levelled on 74 minutes when Anderson was pulled down in the area by Ryan Croasdale and Taylor stepped up to convert the penalty.
