KIDDERMINSTER Harriers cemented fourth place in National League North with a 3-1 win at relegated North Ferriby United.

They are guaranteed a home fixture in the first round of play-off matches thanks to goals from George Waring, Joe Ironside and Lee Vaughan.

Harriers were in the ascendency when they went ahead after the quarter-hour mark with Waring reacting at the far post to turn home a cross after a smart Jimmy O’Connor knock-on.

Not long after it was 2-0 as top scorer Ironside nudged home from close range but then centre-half Fraser Horsfall was forced off with an injury after landing awkwardly although manager John Eustace later said the move was largely precautionary.

Keeper Nathan Vaughan threw himself at Ben Clappison’s shot in the second half before Harriers made it 3-0 minutes later as the advancing Lee Vaughan arrowed his volley into the corner of the net.

The hosts pulled one back on 76 minutes through Jack Mail who turned the ball in off the upright after a corner delivery wasn’t dealt with.

But Harriers always looked assured enough and almost added a late fourth goal when Declan Weeks fired at keeper Ross Durrant after Andre Brown ran through the defence.

Eustace said: “The players got on with it. It was a very professional performance."

Former Worcester City keeper Nathan Vaughan made his first Harriers start since 2014 and Eustace added: “He was composed and showed the experience he has.

"He’s been great to have around the place and it was important for him to get some time on the pitch.

“He showed we are able to rely on him and that’s very important.”
