PROMOTED Himbleton travel to Belbroughton on Saturday (1pm) looking for a first win to kickstart their Worcestershire League Division Two season.

Another eye-catching century from Ali Pretty (110) could not prevent a defeat for the second-from-bottom side in a close game with high-flying Bredon.

Batting first last weekend, Himbleton’s openers Rich Pretty (17) and Richard Sugden (19) fought hard to see off their visitors.

When Ali Pretty joined Sugden they moved the villagers forward with a partnership of 73.

The total increased steadily to 150-3 off 40 overs for a platform to launch a final assault in the last 10.

But apart from Ali Pretty accelerating to his century the middle order could not capitalise and the last five wickets fell for six runs in a disappointing 208 all out.

In reply, opener Charlie McVicker (68) decided attack was the best tactic on a tricky batting wicket and scored a swift half-century.

He was supported by Tim Fenney (45) who frustrated the hosts by chipping several balls into space.

A late blast from Greg Dale (4-59) gave Bredon concern as they collapsed from 186-3 to 193-6 but the experienced Martin Hill (31 not out) helped secure a four-wicket win.
