RICHARD Geary was Old Vigornians' hero as the Worcester side made it four wins in succession with a narrow 22-run victory at Bartestreee and Lugwardine.

The Yorkshireman, who joined the club last month, made 64 in difficult batting conditions as OVs, who were put into bat, made 211-7 in 50 overs.

Azmat Riaz (39 not out) and Ibby Munir (19no) shared an invaluable eighth-wicket partnership as it looked like the old boys may be bowled out for less than 200.

Andy Jones scored 86no as the Herefordshire side made a fine attempt to chase down the target.

But only Nick Freeman (21), called up from the seconds, and Ruari Wargent (28), gave him much support.

The OVs spinners did the damage with skipper Alex Parker and Munir picking up two wickets apiece.

Ahsan Fiaz was the pick of the attack, taking 3-32 with his occasional off-spin.

Bartestree were dismissed with 15 balls remaining and 23 runs still needed to win.

The result lifted the OVs to sixth place in Worcestershire League Division Two.
