Hunt pleased with effort

STOURPORT Swifts manager Neil Hunt believes his team can take heart from their run of away fixtures.

The Walshes Meadow club were on the road three times in five days in playing Biggleswade, Hitchin and Bury in Zamaretto League Division One Midlands.

They drew 2-2 at Biggleswade but were beaten 2-1 and 3-1 at Hitchin and Bury respectively, slipping to sxith from bottom in the table.

However, Hunt reckons his players were better than the one point gleaned as they prepare to host Beaconsfield SYCOB on Saturday (3pm).

“We only got one point from the last three games but we deserved at least seven,” the manager said.

“We’ve raised the bar now and I am sure if we play like this until the end of the season we will get a lot more results.”

Forward Chris Cornes, midfield duo Lee and Richard Tomkins and defenders Nick Clayton and Chris Duggan could return to face Beaconsfield after missing the Bury defeat through work.

Hunt is due to start a two-match touch-line ban on Monday, April 5 after being found guilty of improper conduct for saying female officials should not be allowed to referee men’s matches.

He was also fined £200 by the Football Association.
