County horses finish outside of Festival top 10

HINDLIP’S Tom Weston safely guided Claines-based Burntoakboy around the Cheltenham track in the Christie’s Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup.

Weston, on board Dr Richard Newland’s horse, came home 11th out of 15 finishers on the final day of the Festival.

Callow End’s Jim Lewis and Derek Holder saw their 33-1 horse Mahonia finish 15th in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockey’s Handicap Hurdle.

Ruby Walsh’s 2010 Festival may not have been quite all he had hoped for but the Irishman ended up the leading jockey.

Walsh was out of luck with Kauto Star and Master Minded, but three other winners had enabled him to overtake Pat Taaffe as the most successful Festival rider in history.
