DROITWICH conceded a last-gasp equaliser in a 2-2 draw against table-topping Bromsgrove seconds in Worcestershire Women’s League Division Two.

Spa led twice in the match and became the first team this season to take points off the early leaders.

The hosts opened the scoring after 15 minutes after putting the Bromsgrove defence under relentless pressure.

Droitwich’s right wing Louise Warrilow capitalised to score the opening goal and her eighth of the campaign Bromsgrove levelled soon after half time but Droitwich fought back to regain the advantage from a penalty corner.

A quick change of strategy saw Susan Williams strike the ball and Sophie Blackmore deflected in Droitwich’s second at the near post.

However, with the final whistle blown, Bromsgrove played out the final short corner of the match and converted it to snatch a point.

The seconds kept their first clean sheet of the season as they recorded a 2-0 win against Stourport sixths to climb to fourth in Division Three.

Spa won this game in first-half with strikes from Rachel Cooper and Rose Bevan Smith.

Cooper broke the deadlock and Droitwich’s superiority was rewarded when player-of-the-match Bevan Smith notched her senior goal with a composed finish.

Droitwich tried exceptionally hard to improve on the first-half performance but lacked a killer touch and composure around the circle.

Stourport tried to catch Droitwich on the counter attack but Droitwich were too strong in the tackle.

Emma Pingstone was a key player for Droitwich and tackled ferociously, while Gabrielle Prendiville and Jenny Cooper also hit top form.

Droitwich men's seconds made it six wins on the bounce with an 11-0 thrashing of Evesham seconds.

Liam Hine snapped up five goals for Droitwich and Mitch Oakes also hit the target with a four-goal blast.

Adam James opened the scoring as Droitwich took control from the first whistle to lead 6-0 before the interval.

Oakes’ four goals, included a fine solo effort and taking advantage of a cross from Oly Oxley. Nick Bates also got on the scoresheet.
