WORCESTER St John's Cycling Club won the team prize at an open 10-mile time trial run by VC Sevale on the Severn Stoke course.

The forecast was grim for the 74 riders but the rain held off in the main with the weather slightly favouring the earlier starters.

There was a changeable wind with a headwind on the outward leg and a tailwind on the return leg.

Simon Garrett clocked 21 minutes 22 seconds for second overall ahead of club-mate Mark Corbett in third with 21.38, Paul Guest with 23.04 and Martin Lines with 23.12 in his comeback from a shoulder injury.

Dan Geisler did 23.44, Dave Walker 24.50, Adrian Murray 25.47, Jason Tait 25.47 and Harry Tait 27.04.

Steve Clarke and Simon Adcook, doing a two-up, were pipped by 11 seconds.

The team prize arrived due to the efforts of Garrett, Corbett and Adcook.

Stuart Travis, of Team Bottrill/HSS Hire, won overall in 20.16.
