REVENGE was sweet for Malvern Town as they thrashed Wolverhampton Casuals 6-1 in the West Midlands League Premier Division.

Town were hammered 7-0 by Casuals in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup in August, but roles were reversed in another one sided encounter last Saturday.

Kyonn Evans netted a hat-trick, Shaun Smith bagged a double and Matt Turner grabbing the other as Malvern stormed to victory at the HDanywhere Stadium.

But it was the visitors who opened the scoring. With seven minutes on the clock, a Casuals corner was pushed out by Charlie Weaver only for the ball to be knocked back and then headed home by Hayden Williams.

In response, Lewis Platt forced keeper Fabian Facey into a save before Town scored the equaliser on 16 minutes courtesy of a Smith header.

Both sides were creating chances with Turner going close and Weaver blocking a shot from Jay Holdcroft.

But Malvern edged in front on 41 minutes when the ball was played over the defence to Evans who steadied himself in the box and fired home.

Three minutes later it was 3-1 to the home side as Platt played in Turner who squeezed the ball under Facey.

At the other end, Weaver came to Town's rescue with a wonderful save on the stroke of half-time.

Les Jones' side had the chance to extend their lead on 54 minutes when Turner was brought down by Facey. But the striker's penalty was saved by Casuals' stopper.

Nine minutes later Turner made a good run and laid it back to Smith whose powerful shot was parried and then grabbed by Facey.

In the 70th minute, the ball was played to Smith but Facey turned the shot round for a corner.

From the resulting corner Dene Whittal-Williams headed over the bar as Malvern continued to pepper Casuals' goal.

And the pressure told two minutes later Smith played a one-two with Evans before finding the back of the net.

After Facey denied a Adam Sauntson header, Malvern scored their fifth on 76 minutes as Evans turned home Smith's cross.

With seven minutes remaining Wickett made a good run and played the ball to Platt who fired over the bar.

To cap off the victory, Evans completed his hat-trick for the second game in four days.

Malvern Town Reserves travel to Fairfield Villa in the second round of the WFA Saturday Junior Cup tomorrow (2pm) while the club's under 18s host Bromyard Town on Monday.
