ROBERT Griffiths and Ian Threadgold shared stableford wins at Worcester's Ravenmeadow and Perdiswell Park Golf Club.

Griffiths (20 handicap) scored 37 points to win from Mick Huggins (16) on 36, Dave Phillips (12) on 34 and Peter Brown (14) on 34.

Threadgold (21) got 41 to take the plaudits from Mike Williams (17) on 40, Andy Chinn (24) on 39 and Ben Watts (14) on 37.

Griffiths had been returning decent scores in friendly games and got his ball round in 88 nett.

His front nine holes were steady for 17 points after he parred the third and birdied the fifth alongside three single-point scores and a no-score triple bogey on the sixth.

The back nine had a different look though with four more pars and Griffiths scored on every hole albeit with two more single-pointers to add another 20 points.

Griffiths will play off 19 next time.

Huggins grabbed six pars and scored on every hole with an improved back nine for 20 points to add to his outward 16.

Phillips took third with a back nine of 19 to edge out Brown in a stableford involving 25 players in chilly winds.

A weekend stableford, contested by 29 players, was won in style by Threadgold who got a birdie on the second and three pars.

With good use of his shots in hand, he carded three double bogies in drizzle but nothing worse and earned a handicap cut to 20.

Williams was second after seven pars and a birdie on the 18th was hampered by three double bogies.

Chinn’s three-par card was hit by six double bogies but his strong front nine led to a handicap cut to 23.

Watts finished fourth with 37 after eight pars and three double bogies.

Adrian Day (7) won a medal at the city club with 69 nett on countback from Mark Keeling (12) on 69 with Steve Williams (7) third on 70 and Adrian Tinker (13) fourth on 71.

Another damp day greeted the 24 players and only two returned nett par or better for the course.

Countback went down to the final three holes as Day posted 11 shots to triumph.

With a birdie on the 18th and 10 pars, he only came to grief on the 10th with a double bogey.

Day held 35 nett at the turn but despite the double still came back in 34.

Keeling's final three-hole tally of 13 saw him miss out but assured him of second.

An eagle two on the second along with nine pars put Keeling well in the mix but a double bogey and two triples took some of the shine off.

He needed a steady back nine with just one more double bogey coming in.  Steve Williams carded just six pars but dropped in four birdies on three, seven, 16 and 18.

But double bogies on two, eight and 17 did nothing to help his card.  Four finished tied on 71 before countback awarded the finishing places.

Tinker carded 21 over the final six holes which pipped Barrie Hope’s 23 and put the former into fourth.

His card included nine pars but three double bogies and a triple on the front nine left him on 39 at the turn.

Just one more double and five pars assured him of a podium place with Hope, Chris Williams and Julian Bateman finishing fifth, six and seventh respectively.
