ON-song Martley topped 300 for the fourth game in a row as they thrashed old rivals Hanley Castle and Upton by 119 runs.

James Ganderton and Rich Birchley combined for an opening stand of 121 in just 13 overs in the Worcestershire League Division Three clash.

Birchley fell for 33 to Ed Platts but Ganderton went on to 59 before he fell to Olly Lewis.

The middle order all contributed through Dom Jones (29), Alex Basford (39), Ian Flower (22), Pete Gardner (26) and Jamie Howes (28) including two sixes.

Martley totalled 324-7 from 50 overs helped by 64 wides.

Dan Johnson then ripped out the Hanley openers before Ganderton bowled a frugal 3-20 from 10 overs.

With wickets apiece for Simon Van Tongeren, Ollie Dunks and Jones, Hanley were never really in the hunt and only a hard-hitting 46 not out from Grant Mathews saw them to 205-9.

In the seconds' Division Four clash at Hanley Castle, Jim Basford and Ben Court got Martley off to a solid start before the latter fell for 13 as Ian Hobbs (3-31) halted progress.

Basford (59) and Rob Ganderton (54) took Martley to a comfortable position before Martin Sweet struck a timely 32 and Shahnawaz Shamim 21 in a total of 223-7.

Shamim did the damage when Hanley replied, picking up the first four wickets at a cost of just 18 runs.

Ed Willcox then set about the attack with 63 to give Hanley hope but Tej Uppal (1-19) bowled him and despite the late flurry Martley won by 17 runs.
