WORCESTER'S Natasha Dobson has qualified for the Welsh Home Nations Swimming Championships in Swansea at the beginning of August.

To swim for her home country, the Nunnery Wood High School year 10 pupil had to place among the top 16 swimmers for each age group and stroke.

Each swim had to be in a 50-metre long-course pool from March 1 until May 28.

Dobson qualified fifth for the 50-metre butterfly and the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke.

She has previously competed at county and regional level but this is her first national meet.

Dobson has started doing the sport competitively for Worcester Swimming Club in the last four years.

But she had to take a break after spraining her shoulder's rotator cuff.

Dobson used her time in the gym instead and within three months was back in competitions.

She said: "I am extremely proud of myself and looking forward to the next competition.

"I don’t think I want to compete continuously but I am enjoying seeing where swimming could take me in the future."
