SCHOOLBOY Trent Smith won his first contest of the boxing season by outpointing Chepstow’s Rameece Rouf.

Rouf, an ex-Welsh schoolboy champion, came out in the first round hard and fast.

Non-stop punching forced the Worcester City ABC teenager backwards where he tried to counter his aggressive opponent.

Smith was forced against the ropes and warned several times for holding as he tried to slow Rouf down.

Rouf won the first round after coming out on top during toe-to-toe exchanges.

Smith had more success in the second, counter-punching with both lefts and rights.

During a heavy exchange, Rouf caught Smith’s nose with his elbow and the referee halted the contest to check for damage. Despite a fair amount of bleeding, Smith was allowed to carry on.

With the bout even going into the third, Smith pressed forward. Fast combination punches scored well against a tiring Rouf.

Smith’s work-rate in the third was enough to sway the judges to a majority decision in his favour.
