TWO Worcester boxers are preparing to do battle in prestigious events.
Trent Smith and Ashley James are both fighting for Worcester City Amateur Boxing Club on Sunday.
Smith, 14, will be fighting for a Midlands Schoolboys Championships junior title at Donnigton, while 23-year-old James is taking part in the semi-finals of the National Novices at Scunthorpe.
James is up against John Ndjebay of Fox ABC, who he met at this stage last year. Ndjebay defeated the super-heavyweight by a single point on that occasion and James is determined to secure a final place this time around.
Smith’s opponent in the 52 kilogram division is not known as it depends on the number of competitors on the day.
Both fighters train under coach Steve Brown at their Vincent Road gym.
