NICK Price's self-confessed poor run of form for Worcester Dominies firsts was brought to an end in fine style at the weekend.

Batsman Price had only managed to pass 50 once in his previous games this season.

But when his side took on Birlingham in Crusader Worcestershire League division three south, he produced some real fireworks.

The 33-year-old from Worcester opened the batting and struck a huge 148 in Dominies' total of 290-3.

Price's mammoth innings wins him our cricketer of the week award and he scoops a £30 voucher to spend at the Fearnley Factory Shop.

He said: "I was happy with my innings because I had not scored many runs throughout the season. I have scored one half-century this year, but not much else.

"I have scored more than 148 in the past, but this was my highest score in the six or seven years that I have played for Dominies."

Openers Price and Liam Gwynne, who contributed 54, put on 130 for the first wicket and the former was only dismissed with a few overs remaining as he tried to force the scoring rate.

Dominies posted an impressive 290-3 off their 50 overs but, unfortunately for Price and his team-mates, the poor weather cost them a victory as the game was washed out with Birlingham on 126-4 -- and they had to settle for a winning draw.

Dominies captain Matt Williams said: "Nick got to his 50 and after that he just exploded -- he went from 50 to 148 in very little time.

"It was like he was having a boundary-hitting competition with my brother James, who hit a century the previous week. They put on over 50 in just four overs!

"We were happy with the score but, because of the weather, we didn't want to declare as it would have given Birlingham the opportunity to get more points than us."

Price added: "We posted a good score and had them at 136-4 but the heavy rain ended the game at tea and we had to make do with a draw."

Seventh-placed Dominies picked up 13 points for the result, which moved them seven points ahead of their opponents, who are in eighth spot.
