Harriers look to do the double

KIDDERMINSTER Harriers host York City tonight (7.45pm) bidding to do the double over the Minstermen and cement their place in the Blue Square Bet Premier play-offs.

Only goal difference separates the promotion rivals but victory at Aggborough would see Harriers leap-frog fourth-placed York and draw level with Luton, who don’t play until tomorrow.

Steve Burr’s side will fancy their chances having won 3-2 at Bootham Crescent last month, part of a successful run which has seen them lose just once in their last 11 league games.

But that match was York’s first league defeat since the end of September and they will want revenge.

Kidderminster assistant boss Gary Whild is ready to lock horns with the Yorkshiremen and is expecting another enthralling clash.

He said: “It will be a tough game and let’s hope it lives up to the last one. It was a good game then and both teams were looking to win it.

“When you are playing teams around you it adds that extra edge to the game.”

Harriers come into the match after a 2-0 win at struggling Alfreton and Whild believes sealing the points with two injury-time strikes, from new signing Anthony Malbon and Jamille Matt, is testament to his team’s never-say-die attitude.

“I think we deserved to win overall so it was good,” he said. “We have scored late goals on a few occasions this season so I think that speaks volumes about the lads. They have a good spirit.”

The Aggborough outfit will still be without right-back Lee Vaughan and midfield duo Jack Byrne and James Vincent through knee injuries.
