Proud Pershore hold the league leaders

PERSHORE Town Ladies continued their dramatic improvement by going close to winning at leaders Pegasus Reserves.

They drew 1-1 in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire League match in Hereford after a storming display.

The Pershore defence and midfield were strong and solid with the strikers causing plenty of trouble for the hosts.

Pegasus had won 2-1 in Pershore in the League Cup semi-finals just two weeks earlier.

In their latest match, the score was goalless at the break with new Town centre-half Annie Thompson providing plenty of vital tackles.

However, player-of-the-match Thompson was injured on the brink of half-time and taken to hospital with a dislocated big toe.

Pegasus took the lead on the hour mark but committed Pershore levelled with a penalty 15 minutes later from captain Hannah Burton.

With nearly the last kick of the match, Kelly Wright went agonisingly close not long after fellow striker Charlotte Holton just missed the target.

The visitors’ keeper Lisa Cropper produced a string of vital saves.

Pershore head to second-placed Worcester United on Sunday (2pm) looking to continue their improvement.

The club have secured a home shirt sponsor in Rivers Leisure but more support is needed and also new players, who must be aged at least 15 years and 10 months, are welcome.
