SUNNY and calm conditions made for quick times in Worcester St John’s Cycling Club’s 10-mile time trial at Broadheath.

Thirty-three riders competed the two-lap course and Velo Club Sevale's Jez Pile was quickest with 21 minutes 46 seconds.

Saints’ Rob Nicholls came second, only 12 seconds back, and Keith Peters beat rival Dave Walker into third by six seconds with 22.53.

Meanwhile, Saints rider Terry Slough competed in the Mercia HBM 25-miler near Burton-upon-Trent, clocking one hour seven seconds with an uphill finish slowing him.

In the Redditch open 10-mile at Salford Priors, wind and rain marred the event but Saints’ Martin Lines clocked 23.48.

Terry Slough completed the course in 23.54, Martin Staines 24.00 in his second open this summer, Walker 24.04 and Martin Hawker 28.13.
