Harriers wait on Dunkley

KIDDERMINSTER Harriers hope centre-half Cheyenne Dunkley will be fit to face Stafford Rangers in tomorrow’s pre-season friendly.

The summer signing from Hednesford Town has been struggling with a toe injury and missed Tuesday’s 3-1 victory at Wulfrunians but is in line to return for the visit to Marston Road (3pm).

However, Jack Byrne is still struggling with the hamstring injury that kept him out, while fellow midfielder Kyle Storer and right-back Lee Vaughan (hamstring) are doubts.

Manager Steve Burr said: “It’s frustrating because when lads pick up injuries they then miss crucial parts of what you’re doing in pre-season.

“Picking up injuries is expected to an extent at this stage of pre-season but it’s a bit of misfortune you want to steer clear of because you don’t want to head into the opening game of the season with people out.”

In addition, front-runner Jamille Matt does not have permission to play in the friendly matches as he continues his application for a work permit with the UK Border Agency.

Elsewhere tomorrow, Eve-sham United host League Two side Cheltenham Town and Pershore Town entertain Tipton Town (both 3pm).

Malvern Town and Ledbury Town meet in two games at 2pm and 4pm at the former’s Langland Stadium, while Westfields travel to play Haverfordwest County (3pm).
