ANDY Preece has called for Worcester City fans to come out in force for the club's final home league match of 2006.

City's Nationwide North clash with Leigh RMI tomorrow will be their only fixture at St George's Lane this month unless they need a replay from their FA Trophy match against Barrow.

Following tomorrow's game, they have the trip to Cumbria and visits to Kettering Town and Redditch United before the return match with Kettering on New Year's Day.

So, player-manager Preece believes it is vital the fans get behind City as they bid to put pressure on the promotion-chasing teams.

He said: "It's an important game. We haven't got another league game until the 26th and that's a long gap between league matches.

"It's our last chance to make an impression in the league this year and to try and cement ourselves in the top five. It's a massive game for us."

Preece is hoping to improve on the attendances of late in the wake of better performances against Blyth Spartans, Scarborough and Droylsden.

He said: "We disappointed at home early on in the season and I can understand people staying away but in recent times our performances have been really good with goals aplenty.

"I hope the reverse happens and we get those fans back. We need a crowd against Leigh RMI."

He added: "Our fans have been fantastic this season, they have stuck with us and travel away.

"The same ones turn up week in, week out and we want the ones that are not sure about us to turn up too.

"Hopefully they can see that there is a good chance for us to do something this season.

"Every person through the gate helps in trying to bring players in and keeping the squad as it is because things are still a bit tight."

Mark Danks could return to the starting XI tomorrow after having the cast removed from his broken arm.

Preece said: "Mark Danks has had the plaster off so he will be able to push for a starting place.

"We have protected him and only used him when we really needed him so as not to do any further damage."

However, Chris Smith is struggling with an illness and is doubtful for the match.

Leigh, who have added Eddie Hussin and Kieran Lugsden on loan from Altrincham, have enjoyed a mini-revival of late, winning home matches 2-0 against Hyde United and 4-3 against Hucknall Town.

"They have had two good results recently," Preece said.

"Hyde are a decent side and Hucknall are one place behind us so it shows they have got things together.

"I went to watch Leigh on Tuesday when they beat Hucknall 4-3 and they did ever so well and they are in a run of form.

"There are no easy games in this league and tomorrow will be another tough game."
