  • WELCOME to day two of the London 2012 Games.
  • Almost all of our Dorset and New Forest Olympians are in action today... Here is their schedule...
  • Poole's Dan Hunter kicks things off with GB's men's volleyball team when they take on Bulgaria at Earls Court around 9.30am.
  • Sturminster Newton's William Fox-Pitt will be in action on day two of the Eventing, with the second round of dressage set to get under way at 10am.
  • In sailing, Poole's Lucy Macgregor, Annie Lush and Kate Macgregor begin their women's match racing campaign in Weymouth and Portland, while Lymington's Ben Ainslie (Finn) and Sherborne's Andrew Simpson (Star) are also on the water. The sailing starts at midday.
  • Later this afternoon, Poole's Zara Dampney will be in action at Horse Guards Parade in the women's beach volleyball (5.30pm), while Bournemouth's John Pearce and Sway's Dan McMillan make their Olympic debuts in the handball when GB take on France in the Copper Box at 7.30pm.

In the men's handball, Bournemouth's John Pearce and Sway's Dan McMillan became GB debutants but tasted a 44-15 defeat to reigning Olympic champions France....

To round up some results from earlier this evening, Poole's Zara Dampney and team-mate Shauna Mullin secured a 2-1 (17-21 21-14 15-13) win over Canada on their Olympic debuts.... Full story in tomorrow's Echo.

Looks like the official results are now saying Simpson and Percy were first in that second Star race.... That places them third overall after the first day.

Lucy Macgregor, Annie Lush and Kate Macgregor are beaten in their second match race of the day - finished 12 seconds behind the Spanish crew.

They will be back on the water at around 4.05pm tomorrow against Portugal, before a second race against Australia at 5.05pm.

Poole's match racing trio, Lucy, Annie and Kate, will be under way in the Elliott 6m at around 1.30pm. Unlike the Finn and Star, the girls race against just one other boat in head-to-head clashes. 'MacLush' will be first out against the Danish boat of Lotte Pedersen, Susanne Boidin and Tina Gramkov, before clashing with the Spanish team of Tamara Echegoyen Dominguez, Sofia Toro Prieto Puga and Angela Pumariega Menendez in race two at around 3.30pm.

Poole's Kate Macgregor, speaking yesterday ahead of the opening match racing round robin matches today, said: ''Hopefully we'll get the medal but it is really close between the top six at the moment.

"It could be anyone, to be honest. I think the Americans, Aussies, French, Russians and us are all really close.

"To be honest it could be any of us, but we hope to get the medal."

Speaking yesterday, ahead of today's opening Finn class races, Ben Ainslie said: "I am ready to go. I am looking forward to racing and hope things go well.''It was good out there today. It was a great breeze, perfect sailing conditions.

''It is an interesting course that medal race course (Nothe Course). It is pretty tricky so tomorrow starting off there will be a tough race.

''It is cramped out there. I think you've just got to be more prepared for the difficult conditions and know it won't be perfect.

''You've just got to deal with it and prepare for a bit of a scrap.''
