TOM Kohler-Cadmore scored an unbeaten double century as Worcestershire Rapids defeated Worcestershire Royals by eight wickets in an internal 50-over practice match involving first and second team players at New Road.

Opener Kohler-Cadmore finished on 200 not out from 105 balls and hit 17 sixes and 13 fours for a total of 154 in boundaries.

It was his first knock since he had his head shaved in support of team-mate Tom Fell and to raise money for Cancer Research.

There was also a hundred for Ross Whiteley, a half-century for George Rhodes (both Royals) and five wickets for young spinner Ben Twohig (Rapids).

Director of cricket Steve Rhodes organised the full-scale practice game due to a 10-day break in the fixture list following the wash-out of the opening Specsavers County Championship match with Kent.

Overseas signing Matt Henry bowled 10 overs in his first match action exactly two weeks after arriving at New Road and Moeen Ali also featured in the encounter.

It was played on the cathedral side of the ground next to the wicket earmarked for the Kent fixture.

The Royals side, skippered by Worcestershire's new vice-captain Joe Leach, opted to bat after winning the toss and scored 312-9 in their 50 overs.

Whiteley hit 110 from 83 balls with seven sixes and 10 fours and shared in a third-wicket stand of 143 in 19 overs with opener Rhodes, whose 64 from 78 deliveries contained 10 boundaries.

Leach (21), Jack Shantry (28) and Chris Russell (22no) also contributed runs down the order.

Henry (1-68), Ed Barnard (1-53) and Charlie Morris (2-58) were the wicket-takers.

Kohler-Cadmore shared in an opening stand of 111 in 11 overs with skipper Daryl Mitchell (26).

Joe Clarke (26) was second out at 160 and then Kohler-Cadmore and Brett D'Oliveira (40no) added an unbroken 153 in 16 overs.

Moeen (1-51) and Russell (1-33) were the Royals sole wicket-takers.
