TOM Fell will return to the Worcestershire Rapids line-up for tomorrow's final Royal London One-Day Cup group match versus Derbyshire Falcons at the 3aaa County Ground (2pm).

Fell has not played in the last three group games versus Lancashire Lightning, Warwickshire and Durham Jets.

But he scored a record-breaking 223 for the Seconds in the Championship match against MCC Young Cricketers at Barnt Green - the highest score by a Worcestershire player in the competition.

Director of cricket Steve Rhodes said: "Tom's double century was great news because he wanted to spend some time at the crease and he certainly got to do that.

"To get 223 was a massive achievement. Obviously he batted a long period of time which can only be a good thing.

"He had a bit of a lean winter (in South Africa) when he would have liked to have scored more runs and, although he has contributed at the start of the season, he will be delighted he is finally feeling his rhythm and his timing.

"Tom is a wonderful player to watch and a very good batsman and it's good to welcome him back to the side."

Moeen Ali has returned to England duty and heads off for a training camp in Spain ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy.

In addition Joe Clarke is ruled out with a hamstring injury which prevented him from fielding during the Durham Jets innings at New Road yesterday.

But Rhodes does not expect his absence to be a lengthy one.

He said: "Joe won't make it today but is very optimistic he will be back for the Championship game (at Derby starting on Friday).

Second Eleven skipper and all-rounder George Rhodes is added to the squad for tomorrow plus Australian spinner Nathan Lyon.

Steve Rhodes is delighted to see the Rapids seal a spot in the knockout stages and they have claimed the scalps of four counties who play at Test venues in Notts Outlaws, Yorkshire Vikings, Warwickshire and the Jets.

He said: "We are delighted. That was one of our goals. We wanted to progress and get into the knockout stages.

"That was a really important box for us to tick and a real credit to Joe (Leach) and the guys in the dressing room.

"We can put together preparation as coaches but the players are the ones who do the business.

"A really good example was yesterday. At one stage, we were dead and buried. There were two occasions when they were unbelievably on top and the boys showed great fighting qualities to come back.

"The players have done some really crucial jobs in getting us qualified.

"Is it a sign of growing maturity as players? I think so, confidence a little bit as well. When you are winning, it breeds confidence and you might not play as well as you could and still seem to churn out victories and find a way of winning.

"A lot of it is confidence and definitely a little bit more maturity now."

Victory would clinch a home semi-final for the Rapids.

Rhodes said: "We would like that desperately but, if it isn't the case, we have qualified for the knockout stages and we look forward still to some knockout cricket.

"We will go into that game tomorrow confident but respectful of the opposition. Derbyshire are a dangerous team."
