MOEEN Ali will be rested by England for the solitary NatWest IT20 match against the West Indies at the Emirates Riverside, Durham, on Saturday, September 16.

The Worcestershire all-rounder and Ben Stokes are not in the 14-strong squad.

Sam Billings, Mason Crane, Liam Livingstone, Craig Overton and Mark Wood all miss out from the squad selected for the series against South Africa earlier this summer.

Moeen returns for the five-match Royal London ODI Series that follows until its conclusion under lights at the Ageas Bowl on September 29.

The 30-year-old has enjoyed a successful but hectic summer with bat and ball against South Africa and the West Indies in the two Test series.

Billings, Steven Finn and Wood are not selected for the series, having been part of the ICC Champions Trophy squad in June.

Moeen faces another busy schedule next summer with England taking on Pakistan, Australia, India and Scotland in various formats from May until September.

The international summer starts at Lord’s in May with the first of a two-match Test series against Pakistan.

The first ODI of summer 2018 takes England to Edinburgh where they are hosted by Scotland ahead of a series of white-ball matches against Australia in June.

India face England in a five-match Test series in the UK from July for only the second time since 1959 as well as in IT20 and ODI matches.
