DILLON Pennington impressed with the new ball as England under 19s beat Ireland by 125 runs in their ICC World Cup warm-up opener in New Zealand.

The Worcestershire paceman and academy product posed problems with his pace and bounce, picking up two early wickets in Christchurch.

His first spell brought figures of 5-0-19-2 and he ended with 8-1-26-2.

Fellow Worcestershire paceman Adam Finch replaced Pennington in the attack after his first spell and bowled four overs for 14 runs.

Ireland were bowled out for 247 in 49.4 overs after England earlier totalled 372-8.
