WE are really looking forward to our Friends Life t20 campaign that starts with a visit to New Road from Glamorgan on Friday.

Andre Russell arrived at the club yesterday too and he will be a massive boost to us with bat, ball and in the field — he’s a real three dimensional cricketer.

The t20 is always an exciting time of year, it’s a break from the day-to-day routine and a different type of cricket.

Up at Northants in the YB40 game on Monday, we never really got going with the bat. We lost wickets at regular intervals and couldn’t get that partnership together for us to use as a launchpad at the death.

Also, if you get a good partnership going, the run-rate picks up as you go along and a good example of that was the one between Kyle Coetzer and Alex Wakely in the Northants innings.

I thought we bowled pretty well up front and kept up with them, but as that partnership progressed it became easier for them to score more freely.

Tom Fell is a talented lad and I was amazed by the composure he showed.

Wickets were falling around him, it was only his second one-day game and it was live on TV too, so I thought he stayed really cool under what was quite a lot of pressure.

Northants bowled very well at us up front, but he stood up to that well and played a very good knock.

Chris Russell ran in really hard for us and bowled quickly — it was a good, aggressive spell — and it was one of those pitches that if you went hard into length, it was difficult to score.

It just offered enough for the bowlers, but unfortunately Shants (Jack Shantry) and Gaz (Gareth Andrew) probably didn’t do quite as well as Chris did.

I thought Chris’ spell was exceptional and he made life difficult for their batters.

Our win over Glamorgan in LV= County Championship Division Two was really hard-fought.

It was a flat pitch and we batted really well with a key partnership between Moeen Ali and Matt Pardoe.

It was just rewards for both of them as they have worked extremely hard.

Moeen has got a lot of runs already this year, but to get that big one he’s not got before was pleasing for him.

Also, it was the same for Pards to get his first hundred — it was a bit of a monkey off his back as he has been close a couple of times and he’s finally got over the line. He should go on to get a fair few more now.

Mo is the leading run-scorer in the country and he has been absolutely outstanding for us this year.

I’ve definitely noticed a few more guys in ECB tracksuits knocking around at New Road and hopefully he will be in the frame for the selectors’ thoughts, maybe not this summer, but perhaps with the winter tour or the Lions.
