THERE was a really good atmosphere in the dressing room after our championship win over Nottinghamshire and hopefully we can get a few more of those.

It was a great result and it has been a long time coming, but we have probably deserved that one after the first six games.

It was one hell of a run chase and there were contributions all the way down with the batting. I thought Matt Pardoe and Vikram Solanki had a great partnership — both played well.

Then Alexei Kervezee and Moeen Ali finished it off with some great little knocks.

There was a little bit of a stutter but, when we set our goals at the start of the season, we were looking to play positive cricket.

I think Mo showed his intent from ball one, hitting it for six — that is the way we want to play our cricket.

We want to attack and try and win games — if it means risking losing a couple of matches then we are comfortable with that.

Obviously, with any run chase, you need a solid platform. Unfortunately, we lost James Cameron early on but Pards and Vik’s partnership really set us up. To get to tea only being one down put everything in our favour.

Vik has shown glimpses this season without scoring masses of runs but it was a quality knock to set up the win to go with his half-century in the first innings.

I’m now fit again and this is an enjoyable time of the year playing Twenty20 cricket.

It’s pretty hectic for the three hours that you are out there and I thought we were a little bit unfortunate at Lancashire.

It was a bad toss to lose from my point of view — it was a very dry, tired pitch, it spun quite a bit and they had four spinners in their side.

We were disappointed with how we fielded, although we bowled reasonably well, but the fielding generally wasn’t quite up to scratch and, in close games like that one, it can cost you.

It’s fantastic to have Shakib Al Hasan back, he was great last year with his energy and was good to have around in the dressing room.

It’s like he has never been away and I’m excited by him playing in the Twenty20.

He showed what he can do with the bat in one-day cricket for us last year, and even scored quickly in the four-day games, and that adds firepower to our middle order.

We have seen over the years how important spin bowling is in Twenty20 and he gives us another option.

He can bowl in the power play and at the death as well as in the middle so it does give us a lot more options.

Along with Saeed Ajmal, when he gets here, I expect them to be very successful.

Fortunately, the scan on Damien Wright’s calf injury didn’t show too much damage so, hopefully, we can have him back for a couple of games.
