JOE Leach has impressed with bat and ball for North Canberra Gungahlin in 50-over and two-day cricket during the first half of the campaign in Australia this winter.

The Worcestershire all- rounder is the second highest run-scorer and leading wicket-taker for the Northies in the Australian Capital Territory first grade.

Leach has amassed 292 runs at an average of 36.50 with only Scottish international George Munsey (295) having scored more before the break for the festive season.

He has two half-centuries to his name both against Eastlake — 72 and 64.

The 24-year-old has gone one better in the bowling department with 20 wickets at an average of 19.35 runs apiece to lead the way for his team.

Leach’s overall figures are 106.1-12-387-20 with a best haul of 5-31 against Ginninderra.

Ed Barnard is top of the bowling averages for Queanbeyan District in the same competition.

The England Under 19 all- rounder has figures of 78.2- 9-326-15 at an average of 21.73 with a best return of 3-58 ver - sus Western District.

Barnard has also recovered from a poor start to the winter batting wise — scores of 0,2,2 and 0 — to be fourth in the batting list with 234 runs at 29.25.

His run-tally includes 105 against Leach’s side and 72 made off the Tuggerangong attack.

Worcestershire paceman Jack Shantry has also been performing like an all-rounder with his contributions for Greenvale Kangaroos in the Victorian Cricket Association Bartercard Men’s Pre - mier Firsts competition.

Shantry is third in the bowling averages with overall figures of 111-23-287-11 and an average of 26.09 runs per wicket and an economy rate of just 2.59 runs per over.

His most productive haul to date was 3-35 against North - cote.

Shantry has also chipped in with 194 runs at an average of 27.71 to be fourth in the batting charts.

Wicketkeeper Joe Clarke has scored three half-centuries in five innings for South Perth CC in 50-over and two-day cricket at Western Australian Cricket Association first grade level.

The County and England Under 19 wicketkeeper hit a top score of 57 against Scar - borough, 55 versus Melville and 52 against Subiaco Floreat and has a tally of 181 runs at 36.20.

Clarke is also still eligible to play in the Colts League and took the opportunity to get in some practice with scores of 95 versus Perth and 57 against Claremont.
