WORCESTERSHIRE Seconds gained two victories over Somerset Seconds in warm-up matches for the NatWest T20 Blast at Taunton Vale.

The County took the opportunity to involve the majority of their squad during the two fixtures and there were several encouraging performances.

All-rounder Joe Leach picked up three wickets in both games after opening the bowling and in the first match Charlie Morris and Brett D’Oliveira also enjoyed success with the ball.

Alex Gidman made a half-century in game one after a quick-fire start from Richard Oliver and there were runs from captain Daryl Mitchell and useful contributions from Joe Clarke, Tom Fell and Alex Hepburn.

Worcestershire Seconds will also play two T20 matches against Cardiff MCCU at Bromsgrove Cricket Club today with the first game getting under way at noon.

n Worcestershire Academy will be playing matches at a host of venues during the 2015 campaign including eight days at Stourbridge CC and four matches at Royal Grammar School, Worcester.
