UPDATED: The Worcestershire and Kent match at New Road has been abandoned as a draw without a ball being bowled. Both teams get five points.

THERE will be a noon inspection on the final day of Worcestershire's Specsavers County Championship Division Two clash with Kent at New Road.

No play has been possible on the first three days of the opening fixture of the 2016 campaign.

Umpires Richard Illingworth and Ian Gould carried out a thorough inspection of the outfield this morning.

But it is clear conditions are still wet after the deluge of rain over the previous few days.

Ironically, the final day of the match was greeted with warm sunshine.

Games between Worcestershire and Kent have a history of being severely affected by the elements.

In 2007, the New Road fixture was washed out after the summer flooding and the return game at Canterbury saw no play until the final day.

Then two years ago the match at Tunbridge Wells also had little play after the first day.
