STEVE Rhodes expects to face a Yorkshire Vikings side determined to try to "correct" last season's mauling by Worcestershire Rapids when the two sides meet in the Royal London One-Day Cup at New Road tomorrow (11am).
Rapids bowled out their opponents at Headingley for 170 in the televised clash and then raced to a seven-wicket win with nearly 25 overs to spare after Joe Leach, promoted to open the batting, smashed 63 off 35 balls.
The two sides are the early pace-setters in this season's North Group with Yorkshire on six points and Rapids five after three matches.
Rhodes said: "They will be desperate to correct, or what they will see as correcting, a result at Headingley last year when we beat them.
"They are a powerful four-day and one-day side and we know we've got to be at our best to try to beat them.
"We did a great job on them up at Headingley when we fielded and bowled well as a unit which meant the target was small.
"We went about it with a slightly different batting order and Joe did a great job in knocking most of the runs off the small target we required.
"We expect a very difficult contest and respect them as a team and as a group of players."
Yorkshireman Rhodes admits he always relishes battles with the county he left more than three decades ago to link up with Worcestershire.
He said: "We love taking on Yorkshire. As a Yorkshireman myself when I used to play against them I used to love it.
"I used to wind up the crowd at Headingley and whenever else we played up there.
"It is a wonderful cricketing county and as they've shown in some of the Championship victories over recent years they are a very strong outfit and squad.
"We will certainly treat them with respect but just like any opposition we will go in there and try to get those two points."
