STEVE Rhodes has revealed his pride with the Worcestershire Rapids players in topping the Royal London One-Day Cup North Group and securing a first semi-final place for 13 years.

The Rapids will be at home on either June 16 or 17 after last night's away win over Derbyshire Falcons sealed pole position ahead of Yorkshire Vikings.

It will be a potentially money-spinning occasion and the Rapids will know their opponents after the draw is made tonight at the completion of the South Group.

Rhodes said: "I'm delighted for the club, delighted for the players in particular, and all the staff who put a lot of work in trying to get that semi-final.

"It's going to be a nice pay day for the club, and I know that is welcome, but I'm very proud of what the team have done in finishing top of the group.

"We are a small club, we like to play our young academy players, we don't really venture off too much with the non English type of player.

"I think it is a nice feeling to finish top of that group.

"We've got a lot to be proud of. Our ground is one of the most beautiful and if we get a nice sunny day for the semi-final, it will be a fantastic occasion.

"We will always welcome the television cameras but we've got to still keep those feet firmly on the ground and be respectful of the opposition.

"Whoever we play against will be a good team. They will have finished either second or third in their groups and they will be very good sides.

"What we can expect is a really tough match but if we can turn up and produce what we have on many occasions so far this year, then we will be hard to beat."

Rhodes praised the contributions with the bat of openers Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Daryl Mitchell who struck contrasting half centuries.

He said: "You often don't know what turns up with Tom but, as you can see, he has a fantastic eye and plays wonderful shots and from ball one in this game he took it to them.

"But a lot of it is what he feels on the day and what he feels is the right thing to do.

"He really put them on the back foot in what were still quite helpful conditions with the new ball.

"It was nipping around so he took his chance and put them off their line and length.

"With Mitch, he missed out at the start of the campaign and Moeen was playing then but since he has come back in, he has had three scores over fifty and has done a marvellous job.

"He also has taken wickets and has proved his worth as a fantastic one-day player - which he is.

"He is very resilient and you can't keep him down. He always pops up with performances which is fantastic."
