WORCESTER City secured their first Midland League Premier Division away win of the season with a 1-0 triumph at Lye Town.

City added to their three home league victories by beating the Black Country hosts who started the day four places above them in fourth position.

Experienced Worcester forward Danks was denied by a good save from the keeper on 36 minutes in a quiet first half of few chances.

But he set up strike partner Dave Reynolds to give City the lead 11 minutes into the second half.

Lye had an effort ruled out on 72 minutes for a foul on a Worcester player but Danks could have extended the lead for the visitors only to fire just wide.

New signing Josh Sarmento was on the bench for City and came on for his debut with six minutes left for goalscorer Reynolds.

The speedy Portuguese winger, 21, has been on the books at Benfica and attended a number of trials with Premier League clubs according to City who signed him from Alvechurch.

City: Palmer, Weir, Griffiths, Albert, M Smith, Hayward, Birley (Evans 67), Forsyth, Danks, Reynolds (Sarmento 84), J Smith (Chiwara 76). Subs: Baldwin, Chiwara, Gwynne.
