10:45am Tuesday 27th March 2012 in News
AT a sun-drenched New Road, Worcestershire chalked up an impressive pre-season victory over Glamorgan in a 40-over contest.
The Welsh county won the toss and opted to bat and they were indebted to Ben Wright's 104 and 45 from captain Mark Wallace as they amassed a total of 264-9.
Worcestershire’s new recruit David Lucas showed promise ahead of the new season with a fine haul of 4-25, while youngster Nick Harrison weighed in with 3-70.
In reply, the County’s James Cameron provided a solid 60 runs up front, before captain Daryl Mitchell scored a sharp 44-ball half century. The skipper went on to complete the four-wicket victory with five balls to spare, finishing on an unbeaten 78.
Steve Rhodes’ men today head to Essex for a two-day pre-season match before returning to New Road on Saturday to face local rivals Gloucestershire in a 40-over match (11am).
