WORCESTERSHIRE’S LV= County Championship Division One match against Surrey has been switched to Kidderminster because of the flooding at New Road.

The four-day match, due to start on Wednesday, will now take place at Chester Road North, where Monday’s CB40 encounter with the Netherlands is also being staged.

County chief executive David Leatherdale said: “The flood levels at New Road, which peaked on Wednesday, are now starting to subside, and the standing water on the outfield is now receding, although slowly.

“With further rain forecast for early next week, in order to guarantee the best possible chance of playing the four-day match against Surrey, the match will also be played at Kidderminster."

Worcestershire are now aiming to have New Road ready for the LV= CC match against Sussex, scheduled to start on Wednesday, May 16.
